Based on your interest, we can arrange any other activities listed on the itinerary. Contact us for customized travel plans and let us know if you want to add or remove the number of days & locations from your itinerary.
Pick up your vehicle from Christchurch and on day 1, you will be traveling to Lake Tekapo. Lake Tekapo and Church of Good Shepard are always on the priority list of travelers. On your way, enjoy the view of the southern alps and there are plenty of scenic spots to take memorable pictures with your partner. If you are traveling through state highway 77, we recommend stopping at Rakaia Gorge which is gorgeous. Enjoy your afternoon at the lake. If you are interested, there is an option to visit Mount John Observatory, where you can enjoy stargazing, if weather permitting. Accommodation tonight will be at Pepper Hotel Lake Tekapo or similar.
Vacate your hotel and drive to Mt Cook early as possible. You will be traveling through one of the best scenic routes in New Zealand. We recommend stopping at Lake Pukaki Viewpoint, where you will get incredible photoshoot opportunities. Continue your drive and enter mount cook road. If it is summer, have a look at NZ lavender farm which is amazing. Enjoy a scenic helicopter ride and snow landing over the Tasman glacier. Midafternoon, travel back to Dunedin. Evening Accommodation will be at St Clair Hotel or similar.
You will spend your day in Dunedin city which is known as the Scotland of the south and the Otago Peninsula. There are a lot of exciting things to see in this beautiful town. We recommend visiting Baldwin Street, which has Guinness World Records for the steepest street. Have a city tour and enjoy the ancient architecture, gardens and the railway station. If you are interested, we can add a Taieri Gorge train ticket, which takes you to historic town of Oamaru. You can also spend your time at Larnach Castle or Royal Albatross center. Afternoon, it is worth visiting Speight's Brewery where you can see over 141 years of brewing history. Evening accommodation will be at Heritage Leisure Lodge or similar.
Today, you will be traveling through one of the best scenic routes in New Zealand. Vacate your hotel and continue your journey through state highway 1. Nugget Point is the first attraction. You can reach this scenic spot after a 10-minute walk from the car park. This region is home to many marine mammals including penguins and fur seals. If possible, try to see the sunrise from here. You can have your lunch from Owaka, largest community in Catlins. Afternoon, visit Purakaunui Falls, just 10 minutes walk from the car parking area. There are many attractions on your way such as Curio Bay, petrified forest, slope point etc. If you are travelling in winter season, try to reach Bluff before the sunset. The Bluff lookout gives a magnificent view of Stewart Island if weather permitting. Accommodation is at Ascot Park Hotel or similar.
Have your breakfast and get ready to explore another exciting day on the South Island. You will be traveling to Te Anau, which is known as the gateway to Fiordland National Park and Milford Sound. You will arrive at Te Anau by noon and have your lunch there. Afternoon, you will join the Real Journeys Glowworm cave visit. The glow-worm grotto is amazing and the tour through the caves is interesting in itself. Enjoy your evening in this small town and your accommodation will be at Distinction Luxmore Hotel, Te Anau.
Today, you gonna get the best honeymoon experience. You will be heading to Milford Sounds, one of the most beautiful, tranquil places on the planet. Vacate your hotel early morning and get into state highway 94 towards Milford. This is one of the best alpine roads in the world with many scenic locations on either side. You will board the morning cruise which is 2 hours journey. We recommend keeping rain jackets or an extra pair of dresses to enjoy the Stirling waterfall in its beauty. After the cruise, you will drive to Queenstown, 300 KM in distance. Accommodation will be at Heritage Hotel, Queenstown, or similar. Try to have Fergburger, which is a must-try if you are in Queenstown.
Queenstown is not a destination that can be explored in 1 day. Since you don't have enough days on your itinerary, here are some of the attractions you can go for. If you like doing adventure activities, you have options such as bungy jumping, sky diving, and jetboat riding. We recommend doing only one of them on a single day, as it will make you tired. You also have the option to go for Skyline Gondola + Luge which is really fun. If you are looking for a much-relaxed experience, go for TSS Earnslaw Lake Cruise, where you can see Queenstown’s surrounding landscape. If you want to experience all these activities, we recommend staying at least 3 days in Queenstown. Late afternoon, get ready for a long drive to Christchurch.
